Matthew Abrams
Matthew is project leader and chief designer for the StarClimber team. In his day job, he studies high temperature materials as a postdoctoral researcher for the Army Research Laboratory. His research interests include ceramic materials, stress analysis, aerospace systems, stirling engines, science education, BEAM robotics, and Chinese food. He spent five years getting a doctorate in Materials Science at Penn State University, but never went to a Nittany Lions football game. He currently lives in Maryland with his wife and two-year-old daughter, who shows considerable engineering skill at legos and playdoh.
Ash Gokhale
Ash Gokhale is a professional consultant in computing, telephony and
audio, currently contracted to the military-industrial complex. He has
taken the lead role in designing and building the power transmission and
electrical control system for the climber, runs the Mad
Science project discussion wiki and has contributed support and design
work to many other facets of the project. Ash lives in Washington, D.C.
